Retro Football: Harry Redknapp Defends 17-Year-Old Frank Lampard From Uppity West Ham Fan (Video)

This video is doing the Twitter rounds today and it’s definitely worth a squirt: Here’s then-West Ham manager Harry Redknapp schmoozing with fans at a conference, suddenly finding himself forced into defending a ruddy-cheeked 17-year-old Frank Lampard when a Hammers fan – who was presumably paid off by Scott Canham – gets uppity and questions just why ‘Arry let youth prospects Scott Canham and Matty Holland go in lieu of sticking with ‘crap’ Lamps because of his family ties.
Redknapp’s answer is spookily clairvoyant…
For the record, this is Scott Canham…
He played out his career at the likes of Chesham, Woking, Farnborough Town and Thurrock.
Lampard is a Champions League-winning England regular and pretty much the highest scoring midfielder in the history of everything ever.

Pies, i know this might be hard for you but I would really appreciate more videos like this. this was so amazing just to see how players were when they were young and the clubs and people they were part of. im only 19 and repeated this clip so many times. i would recommend doing a weekly thing of this sort, i really enjoyed it. thanks
