Cardiff 0-2 West Ham – Premier League – 11th January 2014

Soccer - Barclays Premier League - Cardiff City v West Ham United - Cardiff City Stadium

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Premier League managerial debut ended in a defeat on Saturday as fellow strugglers West Ham battled to a precious 2-0 win in Wales. Goals from Carlton Cole and Mark Noble, as the end of either half, gave Sam Allardyce’s side a welcome boost in a game which Guy Demel stretchered off with a head injury and James Tomkins sent off midway through the second-half. The Bluebirds came close to getting themselves back into the game on a few occasions but ultimately it was the visitors who would take all three points. They’ll also be buoyed by the return to action of Andy Carroll who came off the bench. Cardiff drop into the bottom three as the Hammers leapfrog them into 17th place.
