  1. Murray says:

I don’t see how you could miss this. Carrol’s elbow brushed Flores’s hair, which caused extreme pain in Flores’s nose. Seems perfectly understandable.

  2. nsw says:

NONE SHALL TOUCH CHICO’S PRETTY HAIR

  3. with the left and the right says:

the gif doesn’t do service to the actual swipe. in real time he swung his elbow aggressively and intentionally at Chico’s head. Chico makes the most of it but the malicious intent is enough for a red card.

  4. Jarren says:

    OMG DID HE DIED?

Fucking disgraceful. Hope Carroll gets it rescinded.

  5. victor says:

The reverse angle video of this looks as if AC is trying to decapitate him. From this gif it looks quite tame. Clearly a rescind is in order.

  6. Ant says:

With the left and the right is spot on. Watch the challenge in real time, you can clearly see Carroll spin round leaving his arm out with the intent of catching Flores. Ref spot on, I don’t understand the reaction defending Carroll. If this was Suarez (not to necessarily defend his previous antics) there would be a witch-hunt.

  7. Cosa says:

Retroactively rescind the red and book Chico

  8. Derek says:

Andy Carroll clearly swung his right arm in an attempt to catch Flores. 9 times out of 10 he’d probably get away it. This time the ref seen it and sent him off. Fair enough from my point of view.

  9. Tech NEEQ says:

‘He swung his elbow aggressively and intentionally’

    ***slowly places shotgun in mouth . . cant . . reach . . trigger . . . .***

    WHAT ARE PEOPLE WATCHING?!?!

I think its finally happened, I think netball is more physical than top flight football.

  10. Banjo says:

Carrol gave him a dig with his right then swung it at him, the ref raises his finger as the first dig goes In

  11. adam says:

if you actually somehow merit that is is a red card, you are all thats wrong with football these day.

  12. bob says:

wheres that gif of allardyce laughing at chico diving, would be appropriate here

  13. James Belford says:

I thin it was not a red card because after being an idiot and rolling across the floor like was badly hurt he was fine and he had previously done it to us and Sam laughed in his face which was hilarious

  14. roger says:

would anybody like somebody climbing on their back?

  15. James says:

The ONLY thing that makes this a Red Card is the sheepish guilty look Andy Carroll shoots the ref as he puts his arm behind his back.

Intent or no intent, Chico should be ashamed of himself for acting in such a manner. The ref saw it and looked like he was going to deal with it anyway.

  16. Baggie bhoy says:

Recind the red, give Chico yellow for simulation and relegate Howard Webb for incompetent refereeing yet again!

  17. Mike Hawley says:

There is no way Andy Carroll could have known where Flores was. His arm was swinging limply and brushed the top of Flores head. His rolling on the floor clutching his nose was disgusting and deserved a ban.

  18. fñarf says:

    fnarf fnarf fnarf…

  19. Lynn says:

Anyone who does a sport which involves jumping high in the air knows you need your arms to get up there and also need your arms to balance yourself when you come down. More so when you have someone hanging on your back. It is clear that Andy Carroll spun round after trying to free himself of Flores’s arm which was wrapped around his throat, which then resulted in Carroll’s arm swinging round and simultaneously hitting Flores head as Flores was moving towards the flailing arm. Never a red card!

  20. Gerryo says:

Time for Howard Webb to be red carded.

  21. Julian says:

    Totally unintentional
