Landzaat Wigan signed Dutch international Denny Landzaat this week from AZ Alkmaar. The 30-year-old midfielder, who played his 21st game for Holland at the 2006 World Cup, signed a three-year contract, for an undisclosed transfer
fee.

‘He is a midfielder with an eye for goal and is my type
of player,’ Wigan boss Paul Jewell said. ‘He has pace, hunger and
vision and plenty of international experience.’ Pace, hunger and vision? The boy’s a bit special.

Landzaat scored 10 goals for AZ last season to help the club finish second in the Dutch league.

‘Playing in England has always been a big ambition of
mine and now I just can’t wait to get started, meet all my new
team-mates and get ready for the season,’ Landzaat said.
