The official mascot for the 2014 World Cup has been unveiled on a Brazilian television show by none other than Ronaldo himself, with the fuzzy wotsit given the unenviable task of stepping into South Africa 2010 mascot Zakumi’s shoes (what do you mean you don’t remember Zakumi?) being an endangered three-banded armadillo who is yet to be named…

FIFA say the Brazilian nation have until mid-November to choose the mascot’s name, which will be one of three choices – Amijubi, Fuleco or Zuzeco – which, according to FIFA bod Jerome Valcke, are apparently ‘representations of friendliness and joy’, with the latter two name choices also being linked to ‘ecological messages’.

Riiiiiiight. If you say so Jerome.

He may not have a name as yet, but that hasn’t prevented FIFA from producing a slick promo video to get their latest World Cup widget over with the people…

Something like that anyway.
