Brazil Soccer WCup Ivory Coast Japan

Whether simply cleanly or borderline-obsessive, hundreds of Japanese fans stayed behind their side’s 2-1 defeat to the Ivory Coast on Saturday night to help tidy up their sections of the Permanbuco Stadium in Recife.

According to Brazilian news reports, droves of Japan fans walked up and down the stadium rows and concourse in order to pick up rubbish and detritus left underneath seats during the course of the game.

Hope for whales doesn’t exist though, if the Japanese have their way. In the news again today:

“Japan has caught and killed 30 minke whales in the country’s annual northwest Pacific “research” whaling campaign, officials said on Friday. The trip is the first since an international court banned such activities earlier this year.”

The japanese are as nice and well-behaved as they have always been. I love their cute almond eyes and tranquil appearance. Can one imagine a nicer bunch of people?
