As spotted by Pies’ good pal Mr Moon, here’s the sumptuous Alan Partridge quote that was slipped into the live text commentary for Holland-Argentina over on the BBC Sport website last night…

To whomever it may concern: well played, well played indeed.

Suppose sitting through 109 minutes of that drivel is enough to drive anyone batchy!

    Hardly drivel.

That’s what passes as a “glorious quote” by the BBC these days? Weak, Pies, weak

Jesus there are some right dour people here. Lighten up for fuck’s sake!

@Chris, yeah I read that comment in the live text. Awesome quote! I really like reading the BBC Text commentary, it’s great when I’m in work and can’t watch the game, or even while watching live games.

It wasn’t a bad game. Lots of quality defending, sublime tackling. It’s not all about goals and watching the ball shoot wide for the umpteenth time.

  6. Bestie says:

Yea that shitty Dutch team didn’t go anywhere again. As opposed to the mighty 3 lions who took the World Cup by storm –again.
