2010 World Cup Rumours: South Africa To Earn £90k Per Goal

By Chris Wright

“How much!?!”

The South African football team are rumoured to have been promised R1 million (which, off the top of my head is approx. £86,770.65) for every goal they score at this summer’s World Cup.

The South African Football Association have allegedly offered the incentive (that will be shared amongst the entire squad) after FIFA president Sepp Blatter highlighted the fact that Bafana Bafana have only managed 32 goals in their last 34 games.

Crikey, how many vuvuzelas does £90,000 get you?

  1. I just hope they score plenty of goals, and make it through to the next round. (Of course, the South African FA will then need to find the money to cough up for all those goals, but I’m sure they’ll cross that bridge when they come to it.)
