Once again, the Japan national side and their fans proved themselves paragons of cleanliness before, during and after Monday night’s last 16 tie against Belgium.

Despite being knocked out by a 94th-minute goal, dozens of Japanese supporters still stayed behind after the final whistle to tidy up their section of the Rostov Arena

You’ve paid hundreds of pounds for those tickets, chaps. Let somebody else clean up.

There was a similar story inside the dressing room, with reports that the Japan players and staff also left the facilities spotless, along with a note written in Russian to the say “thank you”.
