Swansea City 1-2 Arsenal – Premier League – 9th November 2014

It was the same old story for Arsenal against Swansea on Sunday, with the Gunners throwing away a lead to ultimately lose 2-1.

In a game of little real quality, the visitors took the lead in the second-half after Danny Welbeck set-up goal-machine Alexis Sanchez. However, a superb Gylfi Siggurdson free-kick levelled the scores before sub Bafetimbi Gomis rose above makeshift centre-back nacho Monreal to head home the winner.

The Gunners’ lack of a a solid physical spine was there for all (except Arsene Wenger) to see and the failure of the Gunners to buy a top-quality defensive midfielder and centre-back means that, once again, a top-four berth is all they can hope for. As for Garry Monk’s Swans, they continue to impress and leapfrop the north Londoners into fifth place in the table.
