Arsenal 1-0 Southampton – Premier League – 3rd November 2014

Alexis Sanchez once again proved to be Arsenal’s saviour after a tense and tight clash at the Emirates.

Southampton matched the hosts for long periods of the game, with little real goalmouth action to speak of. Danny Welbeck had the best of the Gunners’ chances while Graziano Pellé went close for the Saints. However, as the game wore on, Arsenal pushed and pushed for the winner and with the visitors down to 10 men, after Toby Alderweireld was forced out with injury after all three Saints’ sub had been used. Eventually, the goal came when Aaron Ramsey set up Chilean star Sanchez in the box to sweep home a vital winner.

Arsenal go sixth while Ronald Koeman’s charges stay third.

Southampton proving yet again that they’re a top 10 team and no more.

Good luck in your next 2 games, Saints…

Yeah, I don’t know what all this talk of Southampton playing well from the media is about. They had, what, one shot on goal all game? Arsenal, well below their best, still created several guilt edged chances that only MOTM Forster kept from being goals. Could have easily been 3 or 4 nil. Seems a lot of folks have a strange bias against AFC which creates bizarre perspectives that often aren’t near reality.
