Jack Wilshere has been charged with misconduct by the FA for leading a sweary anti-Tottenham chant as Arsenal paraded the FA Cup. The FA stated:

“Jack Wilshere has been charged with misconduct in relation to Arsenal’s FA Cup celebrations on Sunday 31 May 2015. It is alleged his conduct in making and/or inciting certain comments during the club’s open bus trophy tour was improper and/or brought the game into disrepute.

“The player has until 6pm on 10 June 2015 to respond to the charge.”

If the FA is going to be the champions of manners what about referring to the accused as Mr Jack Wilshere?

Of course, it was the Daily Mail which led the assault on Wilshere, pathetically telling its readers the player had “heaped more embarrassment on Arsenal”.

The paper opined:

Young children, along with Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, were present at the celebrations as Wilshere chanted: ‘What do we think of Tottenham?’ before adding: ‘And what do we think of s***?

Having laughably bracketed Wenger, 65, and toddlers in a group who must be protected from such words, we wonder when Mail readers and writers became so sensitive?

Previously the Mail has reported on Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner using the ‘s-word’, and quoted London’s Transport Commissioner Sir Peter Hendy thus:

“On (the) Southeastern (train company) the trains are like the Wild West. They are shit, awful.”

And there was this:

And this is what Greg Dyke, the current chairman of the English Football Association, told the Guardian:

Greg Dyke swears

Why is it always different for footballers? Why is that when a footballer swears he is attacked for it by people who also swear? Wilshere’s a 23-year-old man having a laugh. Why must the FA treat him like a child?

This Paul guy is the most tedious person ever. What the hell is happening to Pies?
Come on, Chris – you’re better than this moron.

    Sigh

  3. Puffy says:

Please, please tell me you didn’t draw a parallel between Wilshere chanting anti-Spurs chants and Greg Dyke talking about the death of his father….

Honestly I always liked this website and I’ll continue to come here but that article was frankly insulting; I mean this is the is the kind of mindless shite you’d expect from the Sun or the Mirror, which is pretty ironic because it’s exactly the type of tabloids you’re having a laugh at.

    Very clumsy stuff.

Actually I agree with Paul here. This is just childish Spurs fans objecting to something that isn’t really objectionable at all. They should be more worried about what their own fans chant.
“We’re blue and white, the rest are shite.”
“Sit down you paedophile” (about Wenger).
The use of the word ‘yid’ in various songs.
“Fuck off back to Woolwich, North London is ours.”
“My old man said be an arsenal fan, I said fuck off, bollocks, you’re a cunt.”
    “Your support is fucking shit.”
I could go on and on.
If Spurs or the FA are so worried about the precious children, and bringing the game into disrepute, and what not, they should do something about the chanting in stadiums, don’t you think?
