All in a day’s work…

Mesut Ozil has come up with yet another priceless assist after it emerged the Arsenal forward has stumped up for an entire football team’s worth of Brazilian schoolchildren to undergo potentially life-saving surgery.

Only last summer, Ozil paid for 23 Brazilian kids to have surgery at their local hospital just a few weeks after winning the World Cup with Germany – one child for each member of the victorious 23-man German squad.

Now, the 26-year-old playmaker is repeating the feat by providing the necessary funds for 11 more kids to receive vital medical care at the hospital in Coroata, in the north-easterly region of Maranhao.

According to the German Football Federation (DFB), Ozil has provided the funds through his Mesut Ozil Foundation in cooperation with aid organisation BigShoe – hence the big shoe…

“Even one year after we won the World Cup, I want to continue to leave a positive mark in Brazil by financing eleven more children’s operations,” Ozil told the DFB website.

“For me it’s very important that I carry on providing help for the children of Brazil.”

What a star.

Why only Brazil ??? God bless you for doing something really awesome and what others can’t afford to or do but maybe focus on another part of the world??

  2. J says:

Would he keep on commemorating his squad’s win by paying for 7 kids’ surgeries in Brazil for years to come?

What a great guy…football could do with a few more Ozils in these times of greedy selfish players manipulating moves for their own gain.
