Petr Cech lined out for Arsenal for the first time in Singapore on Saturday, helping his new side to a 3-1 win against Everton in the final of the Barclays Asia Trophy. The game, played in front of a record 53,000 crowd at the National Stadium, came after Stoke City had beaten a Singapore XI 2-0 to claim third-place, courtesy of goals from Steve Sidwell and Marko Arnautovic.

Theo Walcott opened the scoring after a nifty through ball from Santi Cazorla as the Gunners dominated the first-half.

New man Cech was forced into an outstanding save before the break from Steven Naismith, giving the Gunners’ fans what they’ll hope is a taste of things to come.

After the break Cazorla bamboozled James McCarthy before drilling past Joel Robles.

Mesut Ozil then produced a fine finish on the hour-mark, after some good interplay by the north Londoners.

Ross Barkley thumped home a consolation goal for the Toffees to rob Cech of a clean sheet late on.

However, the Gunners were worthy winners of the tournament, with the likes of Ozil and Cazorla looking sharp.

Wenger probably counts this as a real trophy. Not sure where he’ll put it – that cupboard must be bursting at the seams with all those 4th Place Trophies

    Bob, do not become a stand-up comedian…

    Cech is only 33! Incredible.

The dude has potentially another 10 years left in him, 7 of which could be realistically be at the top level.

Over the hill, or at his prime?

    Looks on form to me.
