After struggling to make the grade at Arsenal and enduring a fruitless loan spell with West Brom, German youngster Serge Gnabry is finally starting to make the most of his talent, netting four goals in nine league games with Werder Bremen this season.

On Friday, the winger marked his senior international debut with a hat-trick, albeit in an easy 8-0 win against perennial minnows San Marino. After the game, his current club trolled Arsenal on Twitter over the post-Gunners success of the 21-year-old.

However, Arsenal were quick to hit back, reminding Bremen of Ray Parlour’s hat-trick against them in the UEFA Cup quarter-finals back in 2000…

Bremen are yet to respond!

While Arsene Wenger has come under criticism for letting Gnabry leave the Emirates this summer, the reality is that the youngster wanted to leave despite being offered a new deal by the Gunners. So the Arsenal boss really couldn’t do anything more.

Still, it’s quite a rise for Gnabry, who only a year ago was deemed by Tony Pulis not good enough to line out for West Brom in the Premier League.
