Mesut Ozil inspired Arsenal to a fine comeback victory over Leicester at the Emirates on Monday, with the Gunners’ captain scoring one and having a major part in two.

The Gunners were aiming for a 10th straight win in all competitions but they started slowly, with Leicester the better side for much of the first period.

The Foxes deservedly took the lead just after the half-hour mark, with Hector Bellerin deflecting in Ben Chilwell’s attempted cross after a superb run from the young England full-back.

However, Arsenal rallied and eventually got back into the game before the break, courtesy of a sublime guided finish from Ozil after the German had played a one-two with Bellerin.

In the second-half, the home side dominated proceedings, although Wilfred Ndidi did hit the crossbar with a header just before the hour-mark.

Alas for the visitors, the introduction of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang soon after would provide the vital cutting edge for the Gunners.

Aubameyang netted his first goal of the evening on 63 minutes, after a magnificent through-ball from Ozil set up Bellerin who crossed for the sub, who obliged by tapping home.

Three minutes later the hosts went 3-1 up, this time after more magnificent team play orchestrated by Ozil, who set up the Gabonese striker to seal the deal for the Gunners.

Arsenal could have had more after that, but the game would end 3-1 to Unai Emery’s side, who extended their winning streak to 10 consecutive games as a result.

As for Ozil, a superb display like this could well kickstart his career after a difficult, slightly fallow few months.

The Gunners go fourth in the table, just two points off leaders Manchester City.

As for Claude Puel’s Leciester side, they simply couldn’t live with the effervescent Gunners despite a very good showing in the first 30 minutes.
