In-form Arsenal will destroy Celtic, right? Wrong…

After just one fantastic performance, Arsenal are now The Form Team in the Universe. Which means they’ll pass Celtic – an average team at best – off the park in tonight’s Champions League playoff at Parkhead, right?
If only football was that simple. Parkhead on a European night is a fearsome prospect, especially when an English club heads north of the border.
There’s no doubt that Arsenal are the better team than Celtic, and Wenger’s squad couldn’t be more confident right now, but tonight’s match will be close. Scottish football’s reputation is in the gutter (which, coincidentally is where you’ll find many Scotsmen who venture south of the border) and tonight’s game, the first competitive match between these two teams (hard to believe, I know), represents a great chance for the Hoops to restore some pride.

So this won’t be another six-goal football lesson by Arsenal. Celtic will scrap and hustle and do everything they can to stay in the tie. A score draw then? I call 1-1.

Please keep writing Arsenal off …. the more you do it, the better our victories will taste to the REAL Arsenal Supporters.

Are you joking, Arsenal will beat celtic, If Celtic was an English club it would do well to get into the Coco cola championship. All they do is believe in the lock ness monster and eat haggis all day

  3. Colin Stein says:

This is not the first competitive match between the sides. Celtic beat Arsenal in the Coronation Cup in the early fifties, before going on to beat Hibernian in the final.

david thats a nice one… I couldnt have put it beta

  5. PG says:

Whilst overplaying the crowd factor, remember what happened at Fenerbahce last season ? The Turkish crowd and ground is even more notorious then Celtic and yet, with a powerhouse performance we were able to silence that crowd into submission. Not saying it will necessarily happen tonite, but dont count too much on past performance either.

    Come on Rangers!

  7. Gooners Take It Up The Arsenal says:

Celtic with a narrow victory to take to the Emirates and help us prepare for the inevitable seige!
RJP all you lot do is believe in successive Conservative party leaders, buy into patriotic and jingoistic hype from tawdry tabloids (‘our boys’ in Iraq, etc) and eat bangers and mash all day long. Whilst watching cricket and crown green bowling.

RJP the ‘Coco cola championship’? LOL You mean ‘Coca Cola’ and it’s Loch Ness not lock ness. And david no one is saying Celtic are going to win both legs of the tie. But you have to admit Man Utd, Ac Milan, Barcelona have all lost there in recent years so it will be a tough one tonight. I say Celtic will win 2-1 tonight and lose 3-1 at the Emirates.

An Arsenal fan called Tim Sherwood? If you were that much of a gooner or Hun you’d have changed it to something more acceptable… like c#nt!

and the answer is yes Arsenal will and did destroy the hoops.

  13. ghosty says:

No they didn’t, they had 1 shot on target and scored, the goal came from a deflection from big head caldwell. Certainly they passed the ball around etter than us, but they didn’t destroy us at all.

  14. bono says:

Celtic are shit and were beaten in there back yard now we will finish the job in the emirates ha ha ha ha ha ha aha aha ahah ahahahahahahahhhhahahahahahhahahahahhahahahahahhahahahhahahahhahahahahhaha 2 nil and you know your shit.

  15. machine goooner funk says:

wow what game did you watch? yea the goals were flukey but definitely deserved. celtic couldnt maintain any semblance of possession and their overall attack was quite flaccid. arsenal dominated the game, the goals werent pretty but the gunners dominated every aspect of the game. the tie is in no way over and we’ll see what happens at the emirates. dont be a bitter cunt, take your blinders off and realize your team was outclassed all over the pitch. excuses and empty justifications are like assholes everyones got em and they smell like shit
