Kids these days, eh? So fickle – it only takes a summer-long contract quibble to turn them on their heroes…

All I know is, if I’d have scrawled out GEMMILL on my new Forest shirt and written BART-WILLIAMS across the back in chisel-tip marker pen, my Mum would’ve gone ape-shit!

That’s why kids, don’t be stupid. Never buy jerseys with names and numbers on them, unless they’re players who have been at the club for more than two seasons, or are academy players. Besides, unless the feel of the screened on name and number have changed since 2007, they’re not comfortable, especially when you feel hot. Although I guess they’re a vast improvement to the felt ones they used to have.

  2. Eeny says:

If this is anything to go by, Nic Anelka and Robbie Keane have a lot to answer for.

@montesquieu(your names a bitch to write!)- nasri as been there two seasons though hasn’t he? just pick a loyal player. i have a scott parker shirt. not sure how much longer it will last but i won’t be crossing out the name.

  4. KingEric7 says:

My rule is always go for the international kits!

  5. Dave says:

i only get a name on a shirt if the player is a legend, man utd beckham 2003, ronaldo 2008. still wear them with pride!

  6. Marucs says:

Montesquieu, nasri has played for arsenal for more than two seasons:L just felt the need to point that out.

  7. Dick Naylor says:

Getting a player name on a kit is somewhat cheesy. Support the club not just a single player.

  8. the ayatollah says:

i got xavi 6 ha he neeeeeeeeeeeeeevvvvvvvvvvvvveeeeeeeeerrrrrr leaving barca!!!!!

  9. lordrt says:

Get Giggs on your shirt lads, at least he’ll stay till he retires, and he’s a babes man lolz

  10. Montesquieu says:

The concept certainly doesn’t apply to everyone. With Arsenal, seeing as most players are foreign and are unlikely to stay loyal to one club throughout their career, I think it’s obvious you shouldn’t bother putting their name on the shirt, considering they might not be there in three weeks time.

Same thing goes with any other major club. If you want to put a name on the back of your shirt, (I’ve only ever bought jerseys of than legends, but I also don’t ever wear them) than consider putting a name of one of the current major players of the team, not some two-bit half-assed lesbian who isn’t likely to stick around till retirenment anyway.

The worst part is, this kid is setting himself up for a major epic fail again, considering Gervinho will be gone within a few seasons as well.

HA! Funny how Nasri sounds like he’s staying now.
