Leicester City 1-0 Aston Villa – Premier League – 10th January 2015

Strugglers Leicester secured a deserved three points at the King Power Stadium on Saturday, with Aston Villa one again producing a mediocre display.

Paul Knochesky was the unlikely goal-hero for the Foxes, with the full-back volleying home on the stroke of half-time. However, that goal came after David Nugent had fluffed his lines in front of goal and then hit the woodwork. The goal was fully deserved by a Leicester side who were better throughout.

There can’t have been many duller sides in Premier League history than this edition of the Villans, who struggled to create many decent chances. Indeed, their most entertaining action of the day was during the melee which followed Matt James’ injury-time sending off, with Ciaran Clark receiving a second booking for his reaction.

The Foxes remain bottom but are now three points away from safety while Paul Lambert’s Villans are 13th, just three points clear of the bottom three.
