Aston Villa 0-2 Liverpool – Premier League – 17th January 2015
Goals from the rather unlikely duo of Fabio Borini and Rickie Lambert secured all three points for Liverpool at Villa Park on Saturday.
Borini’s opener cameon 24 minutes from a Jordan Henderson centre. Lambert’s goal came late on but in between those goals, the Reds created a number of good chances. Paul Lambert’s struggling Villa have now gone five league games without scoring, although Chrisitan Benteke did go close for the hosts on a couple occasions. However, Liverpool were deserving of the win as the pressure continues to mount on Villa boss Lambert.
The Merseysiders go seventh, just five points off a top-four berth while the Villans 14th, just three points clear of danger.
