Aston Villa are the new Premiership champions. Well, Inter Milan beat Manchester United 3-2, and Villa beat Inter 3-0 so they must be the best in the league. Right? Gareth Barry slotted home and scored a penalty either side of a header from defender Martin Laursen. It is the softest of penalties, by the way.

How was that a soft penalty??
He’s arm went straight into his face whilst trying to cut across his run.

It is the new version of a shoulder charge.
It is a penalty and it is a call that should be made more often. It seems that the shoulder charge is a thing of the past as players constantly use their arms to push and old their opponents.

i agree, from a neutral point of view that was not a soft penalty at all. his elbow was across agbonlahore’s face and he gets his legs tangled up while gabby is in front of him. good decision ref.

Good to see Laursen back in action after 35 years of injuries.
