What seemed like a bad dream to most Villa fans is now a reality, and we have the photos to prove it…
Said Eck during the pre-photo presser:
“Let me prove myself and I will win you over. This is not a case of proving the fans wrong, I want to go forward with them and prove I am the man for this job.
“Did I pinch myself? I’m sure a few people wanted to punch me; I don’t know about ‘pinch myself’, but I was surprised.
“That’s why I’m so flattered to be chosen by the chairman Randy Lerner. He’s seen something in my CV that’s attracted me to this club.”
When asked about quitting Brum via e-mail, the Scot replied:
“We live in modern world and I did follow it up with a hard copy. I did say to my wife after we had been on holiday for two or three days that maybe I should deliver [the letter] to them face-to-face.
“She said there was no way I was leaving this holiday destination so soon, or I’d be hit with a rolling pin.”
See? It was the wife’s fault all along.
