Why go to all that hassle to create a fairly meaningless shop-job of a Liverpool target holding a club scarf aloft, then ruin it all by leaving ‘Downing’ with one too many fingers?

Forensic analysis says GTFO…

Pies would’ve thought the biggest give-away would be that Andy Carroll is in a bar and no-one is hand-cuffed to the sink in the corner with a toilet seat around their neck, blood all over their face and an empty jager-bomb glass shoved down their throat, but hey-ho.

Mere hours after the snap began circulating online, Aston Villa released the following mini-statement:

“Brian Doogan, our head of media, has spoken to Stewart Downing and he can confirm the picture circulating the internet is a FAKE.”

Call it a conspiracy theory but we think San Miguel may have had something to do with this.

Ok. Prepared for me to tear your article apart?

    1. There is nothing wrong with the amount of fingers on Downing’s left hand. There are the usual four fingers, and the tassels from the corners of the scarf on either side. Turning the image negative only tricks you because it only serves to make those tassels look more like fingers. They are not. Nothing wrong with the amount of left hands.

    2. The ‘forensic analysis’. I know which website you use for that. I also can tell that you only paid attention to the results, and not the paragraph explaining what the image shows you. It suggests that a forensic image will show the difference between parts of images that have been saved multiple times, and parts that haven’t. When these images are uploaded to the internet, they suffer compression, which woud render any results useless. It also states that RED areas of any image will show up much brighter. I don’t think i need to say any more on that.

People who don’t understand image manipulation shouldn’t really be commenting on it. It probably is fake, but none of these reasons, or any other reasons that non-professionals keep coming up with are hilarious.

  2. Chris says:

there was some terrible english in that, but you get the idea.

  3. Ray says:

Chris, you are absolutely right – never comment on these things unless you are an expert. However, you don’t need to be an expert to count the “five” fingers that are clearly visible on the “original” photo. The last finger can be clearly seen at the top under the tassle at the end of the scarf.
Keep up the good work Pie Eater!

  4. Jack says:

the person who photoshopped this seriously needs to get a life… and a hobby!

  5. KingEric7 says:

I don’t get it, the top “finger” is clearly part of the white tassle on the scarf if you look in the original photo, or is this some kind of lampoon?

  6. Chris says:

As has been noted before, I’m blaming my utterly shite monitor and partial colour-blindness – but, honest to God, I saw six fingers.

  7. MrP says:

I may be off base on this one, but isn’t the issue with the number of hands and not the number of fingers?
Carroll’s right arm is raised, his left arm is around the girl and his left hand is on her shoulder
The girl’s right arm is behind Carroll holding the scarf and her left arm is over Downing’s shoulders holding the scarf from the top
Downing’s right arm is by his side and his left is holding the scarf from the side.
If Carroll’s hand is on the girls left shoulder, then the fact that there are three left hands holding the scarf is the proof

  8. Petty Pete says:

Erm… “forensic” means legal, not scientific or anything like it. “Forensic analysis” would therefore mean legal analysis. I can’t see any of that here. Maybe invest in a dictionary? Ta

I JUST WANNA KNOW WHO THE BABE IN THE MIDDLE IS!!!! CAN SOMEONE SAY YUM

  10. Adam says:

There is no foul play with limbs, can’t see where it’s faked unless the website you nabbed it from is trying to claim the middle LFC banner is fake, if so who’s is the original flag. If not give up it’s a pic and the original fake response from AVFC was back tracked.
