Not that it was ever in much doubt, but Lionel Messi has today agreed a new four-year contract extension with Barcelona.
However, there is still time for a sensational Premier League transfer to manifest, as the contract won’t be formally signed for another week or two until Messi returns to Barca after his honeymoon.

The new deal will keep Messi tied to Barca until June of 2021, by which time he’ll be 33.
Why, it only seems like yesterday that the pudgy, ruddy-cheeked young scamp emerged from the hallows of La Masia to terrorise defences the world over.
He’s got a beard now and everything. How time flies, eh?
