Pies polled a stack of top football bloggers to find out who the hell is going to win the 2010 World Cup. Because if they don’t know, who does? Not me, that’s fo’ sure. And lo, the bloggers have spoken…
The following picked SPAIN:
Arseblog • The Cannon • World Cup Blog • Sport Matters • Aston Villa Central • A Cultured Left Foot • Ghost Goal • Left Back In The Changing Room • Three and in • TEAMtalk • All Sorts Of Awesome • Le Grove • Gary Andrews • Ginge Talks The Footy • Caught Offside
The following picked BRAZIL:
Run of Play • Danger Here • Deuce of Davenport • du Nord • The Offside • Avoiding The Drop • Studs Up • EPL Talk • Gunnerblog • Unprofessional Foul • Two Footed Tackle • Man Utd Dugout
The following picked ARGENTINA:
The Spoiler • Football Corner • Goal • Rovers Return • 24th minute
The following picked ENGLAND:
Soccerlens • Real Madrid Talk • Football Barbie
The following picked NETHERLANDS:
The Beautiful Groan • Talking Sports
The following picked GHANA:
It’s a neat six-horse race then, with Spain (15 votes) the clear favourites ahead of Brazil (12), Argentina (5), England (3), Netherlands (2) and, er, Ghana (1).
The Pies chart breaks it down:
Hmm. Fourth favourites isn’t too shabby for a team ranked eighth by FIFA. I’m talking about England, who for my money don’t have anything like enough quality to win the whole thing. Last four at best for Capello and chums.
As amazing as Spain clearly are, I have a gut feeling they will come unstuck and so I tip Brazil. Predictable, I know, but any team that can afford to keep Dani Alves on the bench is plenty good enough for me.
