Pies polled a stack of top football bloggers to find out who the hell is going to win the 2010 World Cup. Because if they don’t know, who does? Not me, that’s fo’ sure. And lo, the bloggers have spoken…

The following picked SPAIN:

Arseblog • The Cannon • World Cup Blog • Sport Matters • Aston Villa Central • A Cultured Left Foot • Ghost Goal • Left Back In The Changing Room • Three and in • TEAMtalk • All Sorts Of Awesome • Le Grove • Gary AndrewsGinge Talks The FootyCaught Offside

The following picked BRAZIL:

Run of Play • Danger Here • Deuce of Davenport • du Nord • The Offside • Avoiding The DropStuds Up • EPL Talk • Gunnerblog • Unprofessional Foul • Two Footed Tackle • Man Utd Dugout

The following picked ARGENTINA:

The Spoiler • Football Corner • Goal • Rovers Return • 24th minute

The following picked ENGLAND:

Soccerlens • Real Madrid Talk • Football Barbie

The following picked NETHERLANDS:

The Beautiful Groan • Talking Sports

The following picked GHANA:

Deadspin

It’s a neat six-horse race then, with Spain (15 votes) the clear favourites ahead of Brazil (12), Argentina (5), England (3), Netherlands (2) and, er, Ghana (1).

The Pies chart breaks it down:

Hmm. Fourth favourites isn’t too shabby for a team ranked eighth by FIFA. I’m talking about England, who for my money don’t have anything like enough quality to win the whole thing. Last four at best for Capello and chums.

As amazing as Spain clearly are, I have a gut feeling they will come unstuck and so I tip Brazil. Predictable, I know, but any team that can afford to keep Dani Alves on the bench is plenty good enough for me.

Ghana? huh- was that a joke

interesting how none of them tipped italy, germany or france

  3. Gilly says:

    Cannot forget the Germans. Criminal.

  4. Joe says:

Agree Gilly, they’ve been written off or ignored so much already that they’re bound to win it now.

  5. max says:

appears deadspin is an american website, mainly covering NFL and the like. That explains a lot

  6. Joe says:

Also, Right back is the only area where Brazil are overburdened with talent same as France at LB… Could still see them win it (usually get a hand or two from the ref), but they look like the worst Brazil team in years on paper.

  7. Deckard says:

I am usually not biased when it comes to my teams, I thought we’d never get out of our group in EURO 08, but I genuinely feel Holland have the potential to go all the way and win it. Whether they will will depend on alotta facts, circumstances, luck, form, injuries etc but should everything fall into place then I tip us as candidates. However, my gut feeling would have to be Spain. I, like everyone else who saw it, was totally blown away by their game vs Poland. Spain have so much quality it’s just scary. Spain v Holland would be my dream final, but so would Brazil v Holland, while Brazil v Spain nobody would complain about.

    Winners: Holland/Spain
    Possible: Brazil
    Outsiders: Argentina/England

    Ghana forever!

  9. I predict MEXICO will take away the 2010 world cup after defeating Germany or Brazil who ever comes in the last round against Mexico. This time Koreans will defeat many other teams and reach upto the last 8 teams! Yes, Mexico will win sure!

italy or germany 1 of the 2 will win both on form

  11. wakawaka says:
