On the very day (26th November 2005 to be exact) that Thierry Henry became the first ever Arsenal player to score 100 goals at Highbury, it was two of his junior colleagues that helped assure all three points were taken against Blackburn.

With Cesc Fabregas scoring the opener and Henry bringing up his century a matter of minutes before the break, Arsenal had to wait until the 90th minute for the victory to be sealed.

And seal it Robin van Persie did – emphatically so, in fact – when the 22-year-old Dutch prodigy cut in from the right wing and spanked an unstoppable, soon-to-be-signature bending shot in off Brad Friedel’s far-hand upright…

That thud off the post. So satisfying.

Even more satisfying is that he skips past Robbie Savage, who is desperately trying to hack at his heels.
