After a good Euro 2016, Republic of Ireland defender Shane Duffy returned with his reputation very much enhanced. However, the Blackburn Rovers defender has since endured a horror start to the season, netting three own-goals already, including two against Cardiff City on Wednesday night.
Duffy was forced to delete his Twitter account after receiving a torrent of abuse following his own-goal in Blackburn’s 3-0 defeat to Wigan. Then, on Wednesday, things went from bad to worse for the Derry-born centre-half, who managed to put through his own net not once, but twice, in his side’s 2-1 loss to Cardiff…

To insult to injury, Duffy was then sent off late on, courtesy of a second yellow after kicking the ball away in (understandable) frustration.
Surely things can only get better for the Irish star?!
