This morning’s Daily Mirror has word on the fall-out precipitated by Sam Allardyce‘s sacking at the hands of Blackburn’s new ownership yesterday, claiming that ‘he of the thick neck’ now stands to receive a hefty £1.5 million windfall as a result of his untimely canning.

The news means that Allardyce will have earned just over £6 million in just under two years for being fired. Ever get the feeling you’re in the wrong line of work?

Anyway, everything is chugging along rather prosaically in the Mirror’s report, until things suddenly take an unexpected turn for the completely mental!

The paper are insistent that Rovers’ Indian owners Venkys are squirreling away behind the scenes, busying themselves by making the necessary arrangements that will see Argentinian conker-box Diego Maradona step into Big Sam’s sizeable wake.

There are even direct quotes from a bona fide ‘Indian insider’:

“Maradona is seen as the right profile for the VH Group. He could be offered the manager’s job, the general manager’s job or even technical director.”

Please, please, please dear Jesus, Allah and Buddha let this happen!

Furthermore, surely having his beloved Mama move in next door would also help cure Carlos Tevez‘s lingering homesickness into the bargain?
