Celtic 3-0 Shakhter Karagandy – Champions League Qualifiers – 28th August 2013

Britain Soccer Champions League

Celtic produced a superb home performance to turn around a two-goal margin against Shakhter Karagandy and fire their way into the Champions League proper.

Fired up by the Hoops’ faithful, the home side took the lead on the stroke of half-time, courtesy of a superb long-range strike from Kris Commons. Greek love-god Georgios Samaras leveled the tie from inside the Shakhter box.

With the tie in the balance, both sides had chances to secure that precious Champions League proper birth and then, with the game drifitng into injury time, wideman James Forrest fired home that all-important goal after great work from Anthony Stokes.

Celtic make it into the Group Stages for the second season in a row while Kazakh’s Karagandy must make the long journey home with nothing to show for it.
