The away side may well have ended the night with 82% possession but Celtic plugged away admirably to a 0-1 defeat against Barcelona at Parkhead in the Champions League last night, though they were forced to do so with ten men for the last half-hour of the game after captain Scott Brown was shown a straight red card in the 59th minute for taking the smallest of swipes at a grounded Neymar – who reacted exactly as you’d expect: by flailing around like someone had discharged a red hot crossbow bolt into his lower abdomen…
Admittedly not the cleverest of conduct from a clearly frustrated Brown, but Neymar’s reaction, as per usual, was totally pathetic. Celtic boss Neil Lennon seemed to agree, telling reporters apres le match:
“I don’t think Neymar does himself any favours by the way he behaves at times so I don’t think I need to apologise to him and I don’t think I need to justify the defence of my captain.
“The sending-off is uncalled for and unnecessary. It’s very soft. I have looked at it; if there was any contact it was minimal.”
Church. Brown’s aggression definitely got the better of him, but the underlying fact here is that Neymar is a terrible little human being…
