As you may recall, Pies first featured the handiwork of New York-based artist Case Jernigan (@off_foot) a week or so ago when we showed you his beautiful and painstaking recreation of Lionel Messi’s Copa del Rey solo special using nothing but a pad of paper and a black marker pen.

Well, Case is back on the…erm, case and he’s returned with an equally lovely little flip-book animation of Zinedine Zidane’s famous 2002 Champions League-winning volley against Bayer Leverkusen at Hampden Park…

Sublime, though you’d be hard-pressed to improve on the original.

In fact, here’s the real thing one more time, for comparison’s sake…

There’s just no way we’ll ever get tired of watching that goal. Impeccably unorthodox.
