The fairytale continues for Leicester City after the Premier League champions overturned a first-leg 2-1 deficit to beat Sevilla 2-0 at the King Power Stadium and book their place in the last eight of the Champions League.

Claudio Ranieri was sacked after the first-leg defeat in Spain but under new boss Craig Shakespeare, the Foxes have been revitalised.

The hosts were sharp from the off and took the lead when captain Wes Morgan netted from close-range on 27 minutes.

With Jamie Vardy a threat up front, Leicester were the better side for most of the game against a Sevilla side who struggled for fluency.

After the break, the visitors almost levelled the scores on the night, with Sergio Escudero’s superb long-range effort coming back off the frame of the goal.

However, soon after, Leicester went 2-0 ahead, with Marc Albrighton firing home to send the home fans wild.

Sevilla pushed for a goal late on but their hopes of getting back into the tie were dashed when Samir Nasri was sent off via a second yellow, after the Frenchman headbutted Vardy, although the Leicester striker’s reaction was rather dramatic.

The visitors then had a great chance to get back into the game, only for Kasper Schemichel to save a weak penalty from Steven Nzonzi.

The game also saw Sevilla boss Jorge Sampaoli sent to the stands for complaining in what was a tense and dramatic final act.

Vardy had a couple of chances to make it 3-0 to the Premier League side, as the home side looked to catch Sevilla on the break. After firing high and wide late on, the striker even decided to smack himself in the face a few times in frustration!

However, the Foxes held on to book their place in the quarter-finals via a 3-2 aggregate score in what is turning out to be yet another incredible season for the club, despite a disappointing domestic campaign.

With Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Juventus and Real Madrid already in Friday’s quarter-final draw, the King Power Stadium will play host to at least one more gargantuan European game before the end of the season.

Any medical updates on Jamie Vardy today? I’m really concerned, I hope he’s recovered from that headbutt in time for the next round…
