Sweet Relief!!!

The poor chap (well, £50 million pounds of poor chap, that is) has become the butt of many jokes this season, but finally, Fernando Torres got on the scoresheet for Chelsea, netting not once but twice in their comfortable demolition of Leicester City in the FA Cup yesterday afternoon.

It’s fair to say that, in recent weeks, the Spaniard has been looking more and more like his old self, but a striker’s currency is goals (apologies for the appalling cliché) and until Sunday afternoon at the Bridge, Torres was a pauper.

Still, with his barren spell now over, can the blonde-haired attacker now kick on and inspire the Blues to a late top four/three tilt?

Nice to see him score and also set up two goals. It was funny to see him do so poorly for awhile, but it got to the point where it was almost sad (for me anyway).

  2. lfc_man says:

    Glad he scored.

  3. Murray says:

I’ll call his “barren spell” over when he proves he can get on the scoresheet regularly and consistently.

For all we know, we won’t hear about another Torres goal until after the start of next season.

  4. Mr. Chopper says:

Being a Liverpool fan, watching him and Raul link up for three goals made me feel equally proud and jealous. Dang, how we could use Raul back right about now.

  5. Jarren says:

Hope this is the beginning of his return to form.

Still, I can’t see Chelsea finishing higher than 5th. Tottenham will bounce back from their recent slump and as long as RVP is on the Arsenal front line there’s not much chance of a Champions League spot for the blues.

  6. Mr. Sparkle says:

With some luck he’ll go back to being an expensive flop.

  7. Jarren says:

@Mr. Sparkle: That’s a rather negative attitude, old bean.

Why would you wish that upon the man?

  8. Mr. Sparkle says:

I don’t care for Torres, nor for Chelsea.

  9. :) says:

he had a very good game when he came on against Napoli too. Could have scored if he were on for the full 90 imo

  10. sloth says:

I wouldn’t mark the end of the drought until he scores in a Premier League or Champions League match. Leicester City are 12th in the Championship. Not exactly tough competition for a team of Chelsea’s supposed calibre.

  11. Questionable says:

@sloth: was just about to make that point, cheers mate

  12. werderbremen_rulez says:

    Was about time.

Will those two goals now suffice to get him to the Euro, I wonder….

@Mr Chopper: Sigh..i hear you mate. could never understand why they let Raul go. Loved him to bits.
