Chelsea 1-0 Stoke City – Premier League – 22nd September 2012
It took Chelsea until the 85th minute to finally break down Stoke at Stamford Bridge on Saturday. Ashley Cole was the goal-hero for the Blues, popping up in the box to finish off a superb flick from Juan Mata. However, for periods of the game, it was the visitors who looked the more likely to score, with Jonathan Walters hitting the woodwork in the first half.
The Potters contained Roberto Di Matteo’s side for most of the game. However, ultimately it was the home side who took all three points late on.
One major controversial moment came when David Luiz ploughed through Walters in a challenge deserving of far more than the yellow it received. Oh, and Michael Owen came on as a sub.
