Chelsea 2-0 Hull City – Premier League – 13th December 2014

In a game marred by diving and nasty challenges, Chelsea ultimately proved too good for visitors Hull at Stamford Bridge.

Eden hazard headed home the opener after just seven minutes but Hull fought back and stopped the Blues from building on that early lead. After Willian had been booked for diving in the first-half, Gary Cahill then went down  in the Tigers’ box like a 6′ 4″ sack of potatoes soon after the break. However, with the Chelsea defender already on a booking, ref Chris Foy bottled out of (correctly) sending off Cahill, a decision which incensed the Hull players. Foy then booked Diego Costa for a dive which tipped the Tigers over the edge, culminating in Tom Huddlestone’s dreadful challenge on Felipe Luis which earned him a red card.

Down to 10 men, Steve Bruce’s men then saw Costa seal the deal for the Blues from close-range to keep the Blues three points clear at the top of the table. However, Hull, who stay in the drop-zone, have a right to be rather irked by the officials’ performance.
