Chelsea 2-0 Newcastle United – Premier League – 10th January 2015
Despite finding themselves on the back-foot for most of the first-half, Chelsea ultimately came out on top against Newcastle to stretch their lead to two points at the top of the table.
The Magpies were superb in the first period, with Remy Cabella shining from the start. Moussa Sissoko saw an effort hit the frame of the goal as the visitors pushed for an opener. However, just before the stroke of half-time, it was Chelsea who would score, courtesy of Oscar who fired home after a quickly-taken corner.
In the second-half, the hosts improved and eventually doubled their advantage after Diego Costa netted from a magnificent Oscar flicked assist.
Jose Mourinho’s men are now on 49 points, two clear of Manchester City. The Magpies, on the other hand, stay 10th.
