After bowing out with a 3-1 win over Sunderland in their final game, Chelsea went pootling around the capital on their title-winning bus parade on Bank Holiday Monday.

As is customary, the victorious players and staff were bombarded with celery as they made their way from Stamford Bridge to the King’s Road – a tradition that goes back to the 1980s when Chelsea fans in the Shed End would hurl stalks of celery onto the pitch while singing a catchy little ditty about the vegetable and its magical romantic powers (Google it).

Anyway, perennial ne’er-do-well Diego Costa was in his absolute element, returning fire with reckless abandon…

The bird’s-eye view…

Indeed, Costa spent all afternoon merrily pelting fans hither and thither…

Celery, celery and more celery…

There was even celery chucked at a departing legend…

And there was more celery a-flyin’ as the team passed under a potentially tricky low bridge…

In other news, the greengrocers of West London recorded all-time record profits over the Bank Holiday weekend.

Here’s an exclusive photo of the Chelsea bus being cleaned out at the end of the day…
