Maccabi Haifa – Chelsea – Champions League Group G – 24th November 2015

Chelsea  endured a stress-free evening in Tel Aviv on Tuesday night, with the Blues winning 4-0 against hosts who were forced to play the game with 10 men for all of the second-half.

Jose Mourinho started with Baba Rahman on the left side of the back four, while Eden Hazard, Willian and Oscar playing behind Diego Costa. The Blues opened the scoring on 20 minutes, with Gary Cahill scoring from close range after his first effort had been saved. The hosts hopes of getting anything out of the game dwindled when, just before the break, ex-Chelsea and Man City defender Tal Ben Haim saw red for a horror lunge on Costa.

A man up, the visitors strolled through the second-half, although it took until the 77th minute for a second goal to come. Willian was scorer of that goal, courtesy of yet another free-kick, before a couple of headers from Oscar and then Kurt Zouma rounded out a comfortable win for the Blues.

The win sees the west Londoners move ahead of Porto, on goal difference, at the top of Group F, with a Last 16 berth now well and truly in their own hands.
