In front a record crowd of 32,912. Arsenal Ladies lifted their 14th Women’s FA Cup trophy at Wembley on Saturday, courtesy of a deserved 1-0 win against holders Chelsea. Danielle Carter was the match-winner for the Gunners, with the attacker netting a cracking solo effort.

Carter’s goal came on 18 minutes after a strong start from Pedro Martínez Losa’s side, with the England forward jinking into the box before producing a sublime curling effort which sailed past ‘keeper Hedvig Lindahl and into the back of the Chelsea net.

Asisat Oshoala had a number of chances to increase Arsenal’s lead while Fran Kirby failed to make the most of the Blues’ best chance.

However, overall the Gunners were well worth win which takes their Women’s FA Cup haul to 14 titles, six more than any other side.

With the men’s FA Cup final yet to be played, Arsenal now currently hold both the men’s and women’s titles, at least for a week or so.
