Chelsea: Marcos Alonso Nets Sublime Free-Kick Against Bournemouth As Blues Stay On Course For Title (Video)

After Tottenham’s comprehensive 4-0 drubbing of Watford earlier in the day, Chelsea found themselves just four points clear of the Lilywhites before their last game against Bournemouth.

However, Antonio Conte’s side eased past the Cherries, registering a 3-1 victory at the Vitality Stadium, with Marcos Alonso netting a cracking free-kick.

Chelsea took the lead on 17 minutes, courtesy of a bizarre goal which saw Diego Costa’s mishit effort deflecting in off the unfortunate Adam Smith.

Within three minutes, the visitors were 2-0 up, courtesy of a fabulous goal from Eden Hazard, which the Belgian gliding past Artur Boruc before slotting home.

Bournemouth eventually got themselves back into the game, with in-form attacker Josh King netting yet again, via a powerfully struck effort from outside the box.

However, any hopes the Cherries had of pegging the Blues back were snuffed out on 68 minutes, courtesy of a superb free-kick from Alonso.

The win sees Chelsea stay seven points clear of nearest rivals Spurs, with the title almost in reach.

As for Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth, they find themelves in 15th spot, seven points clear of the drop-zone.
