Alvaro Morata finally got himself back on the scoresheet as Thursday night saw Chelsea record the narrowest of victories over Vidi in the Europa League at Stamford Bridge.

Morata came into the game with just one goal in his last 17 appearances, and it looked like that barren run was doomed to go on when the Spanish forward made a hash of a dinked finish after just quarter of an hour…

Several more chances duly went begging as the camera continued to cut to Olivier Giroud sat in the stands in the hope of capturing a suggestive response of some sort.

Thankfully, with 70 minutes of near-misses and almost-maybes elapsed, Cesc Fabregas sent another lovely ball over the top of the Vidi defence which was flicked by Willian into the path of Morata, who finished it all off in fine, instinctive fashion…

It was all getting a bit Fernando Torres-y, but it was nice to see Morata get the reward his hard work and determination deserved.

The celebration was telling, with his teammates flocking to embrace and congratulate the shot-shy striker, whose lip looked to tremble ever so slightly…

Maurizio Sarri’s side now sit top of Group L with maximum points from their first two games with a double-header against BATE Borisov next on the cards.

After 10 matches, the Blues are also now the only unbeaten team left in England, so there’s that too.
