Chelsea finished off their dominant Europa League group stage campaign with a 2-2 draw against MOL Vidi (née Videoton) out in Hungary on Thursday night.

Having made 10 changes to the team that beat Man City at the weekend, the Blues’ second-stringers did exactly what they needed to do to ensure they finished top of Group L with an unbeaten record.

Willian opened the scoring for the away side before Ethan Ampadu had the misfortune of cancelling it out just two minutes later when he inadvertently steered a header into his own goal…

Loic Nego then volleyed Vidi in front with an emphatic finish in the 56th minute before Olivier Giroud squared things up again on the stroke of 75′.

The French striker, who replaced the injured Alvaro Morata at half-time, stepped up and swept a majestic freekick into the top corner from 20 yards out…

Not your archetypal Giroud goal, but a rather nice one all the same.

As such, Chelsea ended up top of the shop with 16 points to their name while BATE Borisov sneaked through behind them with nine.
