  1. I think David Beckham is going to be very important for the development of soccer in the US. I’m from Portugal a country with a big tradition in soccer and I’m looking forward to see a stronger US Soccer Team in future world cups.

It will certainly be interesting to see how it plays out, Andre. Whether he can make an impact or whether he will just become someone for fans of America’s more traditional sports to poke fun at.

  3. Andrew says:

I think people here in America will be critical of Beckham but he will be a big part in growing the sport. I’ve been playing since i was 5 and now at 22 it is amazing how much is on TV and how much is in the media compared to before. Even in the past 6 months their has been more international, mls, etc on tv. Unfortunately most of my friends aren’t players and haven’t been following the sport so they just say negatives about Beckham being hollywood when they don’t even know anything about him besides that he is pretty and makes a lot of money. I think the image of him being just hollywood will fade and people will realize he is pure talent and that MLS has a lot of talent in it too.
