Chelsea have six points out of six and yet they have stuttered in beating Hull and Sunderland – God help their rivals if they start playing to their potential.
Darren Bent put Sunderland ahead last night to fuel hopes of a minor shock, but Chelsea got their act together in the second half. The visitors’ fightback was led by Deco. Yes, Deco. Yes, the little fella who looks like a young Ronnie Corbett. Yes, the little fella who went missing last season.

Deco was hugely impressive at the front of Carlo Ancelotti’s diamond, reminding us all why Chelsea bought him in the first place. If he continues to shine, it will feel like Chelsea have a brand new playmaker. Amazing what a manager’s vote of confidence can do for a beleaguered player.
So Chelsea top the league, for now. A decent start for Ancelotti but could do better.
