Following the ridiculous scenes of Russian fans attacking stewards before their team’s game with the Czech Republic last Friday, UEFA have decided to come down (relatively) hard on the Russians.
As well as attacking the stewards, Russian fans threw fireworks and displayed dodgy banners during the game, all of which have earned the Footbal Union Of Russia a six-point suspended points deduction which will run for the entirety of the 2016 Euro Finals qualifying stages.
UEFA also threw in a €120,000 fine. Although the Russian footballing authorities do now have time to lodge an appeal. However if that fails, then Russia supporters need to be on their very best behaviour or their chances of making it to France in 2016 could be scuppered.
