Leeds wideman Aidy White scored a superb solo goal at Elland Road on Tuesday night as the home side shocked high-flying Everton with a 2-1 win.

White’s jinky run followed by a cool, curling finish opened he scoring after just four minutes with Rodolph Austin doubling the score on 70 minutes.

Sylvain Distin did get one back for the Toffees before the end but it was too late.

The problem with the league cup is that hardly any teams give a shit about it.

Look at the top half of the Premiership. They have fielded second squads / reserves / kids for the last 15 years.

What message does that send out about the league cup?

They should exclude Premier league teams from it, let a winner from the Championship (or League 1 / 2 whatever) get to the UEFA cup stages.

could whinge about a couple of duff decisions at the end but we were woeful and deserved to lose. Leeds were good and will be a pain for whoever they draw in the cup.

I wouldn’t say that Everton team was reserves at all! Pienaar, Fellaini, Anichebe, Jelavic, Distin… (need I go on?) All top PL players!

Moyes went out to win it and came up against the best Leeds performance I have seen for a long time. Diouf was in fine form. Leeds Leeds Leeds!

Short of the keeper, Everton put out a team that was quailty, and could easily had played a prem match. Should have had a peno in the 89th, though it should never had come to that.
