Everton 3-1 Queens Park Rangers – Premier League – 15th December 2014

Everton moved above rivals Liverpool in the league table, courtesy of a deserved win at home to QPR.

The visitors started the game brightly with Matty Phillips going close however, a corker from Ross Barkley just after the half-hour mark kickstarted the Toffees’ evening. That goal, a superb individual effort, came after the midfielder started the move in his own-half before he thundered home from outside the box. Just before half-time, a deflected Kevin Mirallas free-kick doubled the home side’s advantage before Steven Naismith made it 3-0 early on in the second-period. Sub Bobby Zamora did bag a late consolation strike but overall the west Londoners were well beaten.

While Roberto Martinez’s side go 10th, one place above Liverpool, Harry Redknapp’s QPR remain in the bottom three and a point from safety.
