Crystal Palace 0-1 Everton – Premier League – 31st January 2015

Everton secured their first victory in nine games at Selhurst Park on Saturday.

The Toffees scored the only goal of the game after just two minutes, with Romelu Lukaku bundling the ball in from close-range. Palace almost equalised soon after, only for Dwight Gayle’s effort to be cleared off the line by Phil Jagielka. Indeed, it was the hosts who created the majority of the chances throughout the game.

The home side saw Marouane Chamakh carried off on a stretcher after a clash of heads with Seamus Coleman, with Jordan Mutch, making his debut for Palace, replacing the former Arsenal man. However, despite the Eagles’ pressure, the Toffees stood firm to inflict a first victory on Alan Pardew since he took over at the south London club.

Roberto Martinez’s charges go 12th, one place about Crystal Palace.
