Everton striker Andy Johnson might not be able to command a regular place in the England team, but his skills might be appreciated in the misfiring England rugby union team judging on his penalty of Chris Waddle proportions last night. Johnson, having already had a penalty saved, sent his spot-kick to row Z against Metalist Kharkiv in the Uefa Cup. The match ended 1-1. The spectacularly wayward penalty can be seen towards the end of the video below.

But for him to be useful as a goal kicker England would have to score a try or penalty in kicking turf first – that doesn’t tend to happen these days…

  2. Chringle says:

Everton shouldn’t have been relying on two rather unconvincing penalties to beat a Ukranian pub team. And I’m glad Johnson is finally being shown up for what he is… A championship standard player at best.
